Gary Neville tells Liverpool FC to sacrifice the Champions League

Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool are focused on all competitions this season, despite advice they should "kick the Champions League into touch" to help their Premier League title chances.

Neville, who won just ten of his 28 games at Valencia in 2015/16 before being sacked, pointed to Liverpool's front three as lacking cover and said that they should forget the Champions League altogether during an interview with The Times. I don't understand, we play our kids or what? "Gary should come over and tell me exactly how that works", said Klopp. To focus on one competition can only be if you are out, or almost out, or of if it's late in the season.

Past year I don't think even Gary Neville would have said 'let City win in the Champions League.' Sitting in an office talking about football is different to doing the job. 'If it's late in the season that you see you have a chance to do that or do this and all that stuff.

Pochettino said: "Look, when in England the transfer window closed and in Europe closed I think we move on. Sitting in an office talking about football is different to doing the job".

Goalkeeper Lloris sustained a thigh problem during last month's 3-0 win at Manchester United, which meant he missed the subsequent 2-1 loss at Watford and France's global commitments over the past week.

"With a star-studded side full of attacking options the Reds are nearly always guaranteed to score and will look to heap more misery on the hosts who were beaten at Watford last time out".

The Argentinian said: "He needs to provide the team with his best, but maybe in the circumstances we are like a team, or when he plays with England it's maybe not the best conditions for a striker to give the best".

It is the start of a packed schedule of seven matches - including Champions League matches against Paris St Germain and Napoli - in 23 days.

"I think it will be an open game".

Tottenham's preparation for a game against a Liverpool side boasting a 100 percent record so far has not been ideal.
