Three Hurricanes Currently In Atlantic Ocean

A continued west-northwestward motion with a decrease in forward speed is expected through late Tuesday, followed by a turn toward the northwest and then north-northwest on Wednesday and Thursday.

As astronauts aboard the International Space Station (ISS) saw first-hand on Monday morning, hurricanes Isaac and Helene are trailing behind Florence, making for a trio of powerful storms. A high-pressure ridge building to the north and northwest of Florence is expected to steer the hurricane west-north-westward to northwestward toward the southeastern US coast.

"The centre of Hurricane Isaac was located near latitude 14.7 North, longitude 43.9 West. Isaac was moving towards the west near 14 miles per hour".

"Florence is expected to be an extremely risky major hurricane through Thursday", the NHC said.

South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said an estimated 1 million people would be fleeing his state's coast, with eastbound Interstate 26 heading into Charleston and USA 501 heading into Myrtle Beach reversed to ease the exodus.

Hurricane Florence, Hurricane Isaac, Hurricane Helene track in Atlantic Ocean.

The category 4 storm is racing up the coast at speeds of 209 kph, likely to enter Canada by the end of the week.

The fact both Hugo and Florence have rapidly strengthened to Category 4 hurricanes along the eastern seaboard in quiet years has caught the attention of hurricane researcher Jim Kossin.

Wife of Pakistan’s ex-PM, Nawaz dies in London
Begum Kulsoom had been placed on life support at London's Harley Street Clinic on Monday night as her health began deteriorating. Since then, Nawaz and Maryam have been making regular making trips to the United Kingdom to visit Kulsoom.

Arnold also shot the image below of Florence from directly above the storm. "This one really scares me", National Hurricane Center Director Ken Graham said. Forecasters also warned of a rising threat of life-threatening storm surge, along with the damaging winds.

The eye of the massive storm is forecast to make landfall late Thursday or early Friday along a stretch of coastline already saturated by rising seas, and then meander for days. The state's emergency management agency said it is "preparing for the possibility of a large-scale disaster".

Hurricane Isaac was expected to lose strength as it reaches the Caribbean, and Helene, much farther out to sea, may veer northward into the open ocean as the 2018 hurricane season reaches its peak. Moving toward the west-northwest near 9mph on the forecast track, the centre of Florence will approach the southeastern coast of the United States on Thursday.

"Isaac is a small hurricane and uncertainty in the forecast is greater than normal", the National Hurricane Center reported Monday at 11 a.m. Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 115 miles from the storm's center.

Once it makes landfall, Florence is predicted to stall and remain over North Carolina for at least 24 hours - increasing the threat of unsafe flooding, NHC director Ken Graham said on Monday. The storm is already 500 miles wide - meaning a large area will be at risk when it nears land. Duke Energy spokesman Ryan Mosier said operators would begin shutting down nuclear plants at least two hours before hurricane-force winds arrive.

A warm ocean gives hurricanes their fuel, and Florence is moving over an area with water temperatures nearing 85 degrees, hurricane specialist Eric Blake wrote.

Isaac: As of the 5:00am advisory, Hurricane Isaac has maximum sustained winds of 75 miles per hour.
