A 24-year-old man has been charged with five counts of murder after two-year-old twin girls, their three-year-old sister, mother and grandmother were found dead in a Perth home.
Assistant Commissioner Metropolitan Region Paul Steel told reporters police arrived at the home about 12pm local time to find women and children among the dead.
The shocking discovery came after a man in his 20s visited a regional WA police station on Sunday morning.
"It is a tragic thing when incidents like this occur", he said.
While violent crime with multiple victims is rare in the country, this was the second major incident in Western Australia this year. No further information was provided on the victims and the man in custody.
Police also have not said how the women and children died and it's still to be determined how long the bodies had been there.
Police said there are no ongoing safety concerns for the community.
The bodies of five people, including a woman and children, have been discovered at a suburban home in the Australian city of Perth.
No charges have yet been laid.
