Special Counsel Reportedly Agrees To Accept Written Answers From President

Mueller will accept written answers from Trump on questions about whether his campaign conspired with Russia's election interference, Mueller's office told the president's lawyers in a letter, two people briefed on it said.

It was not immediately clear what those conditions mean for other avenues Mueller is exploring, including whether the president sought to obstruct the Russian Federation investigation through actions such as the firing a year ago of former FBI Director James Comey. "We continue to maintain an ongoing dialogue with the office of the special counsel", Trump's lawyer Jay Sekulow said, adding that it was the legal team's policy to not discuss its communications with the special counsel's office.

Sources said the tone prompted Trump allies to believe that any interview will be more limited in scope than the president's legal team initially believed. On Tuesday, the President called the Mueller investigation "illegal" in an interview with the Daily Caller.

Mueller was appointed special counsel after Trump fired Comey in May 2017.

'I could give you 100 pictures of him and Comey hugging and kissing each other.

"We'll decline to comment", special counsel spokesman Peter Carr told the Daily News.

Jalaluddin Haqqani dead: What is the militant network, how was it formed
Jalaluddin Haqqani, the founder of the Afghanistan and Pakistan-based Haqqani Network , is dead, the Taliban announced on Monday. His outfit was one of the several militant groups operating from the tribal areas along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

Earlier this month, Trump's attorneys rejected Mueller's proposal to ask Trump questions he had about his actions as president and said they would consider having him answer some questionsabout the campaign period in writing.

It is not clear, in the slightest, what Trump means by his claim that he could give the Caller "100 photos" of Comey and Mueller "hugging and kissing". A White House spokeswoman did not return a request for comment.

Trump's lawyers said that they fear Mueller could accuse Trump of perjury because the presdient remembers key events differently than other witnesses.

He also made a likely reference to a reported dispute with Mueller over membership dues at his Virginia golf course - which the president visited on Saturday and Sunday.

And for another, Trump claimed, without any proof that Comey and Mueller are "best friends" and even more, of the "hugging and kissing" variety. In addition to possible collusion, Mueller is looking into whether Comey's firing could have constituted obstruction of justice on the President's part because the Federal Bureau of Investigation was already investigating his campaign.
