Koepka holds off Tiger, Scott to win PGA crown

Much is being made of the fact he's "only" won four times on "the tour", but that would be the US PGA Tour.

The 42-year-old American underwent spinal fusion last year but showed glimpses of the sublime form that has earned him 14 majors.

Behind every great man is a great woman, and Koepka is no exception.

Thomas drew level and he was matched at a low of [2.8] when he had seven feet for birdie at the ninth but incredibly, he missed both that and the returning par save from four feet and that was the end of his challenge.

Adam did have an eight-footer across the hill at the 17th for a birdie, but he slid it under the hole and Koepka took a two-shot lead down the last, a 400m par four, which was duly dispatched with a drive - which barely ran five meters - and a wedge 15 feet behind the hole. Justin Rose only has one, Jason Day only has one - this guy has come in with three.

And yes, that includes Tiger Woods, too. I'd really like to see him win a regular event first though because I think that would make a huge difference the next time he's in-the-mix at a major and that's certainly not beyond him. "Pete Cowen and I have made a lot of changes in the short game, that was with Butch's recommendation". "I'm not that bad" and he said 'Brooks Keopka is unbelievable.he's going to win on the European Tour next season and then I think he's going to win majors" and you're kind of saying 'Ok, I've heard this before, ' you'll keep an eye out for him.

He's had multiple back surgeries, and as recently as 11 months ago, wasn't able to swing a golf club. Players from all over the world said the enthusiastic crowds have been making it fun for them to play-despite the heat, storms and weather delay.

There was no wind to speak of.

National Football League preseason roundup: Vikings QBs lead rout of Broncos
Just like uncle Jim Kelly advised after Chad almost single-handedly rallied the Broncos against the Vikings: Stay humble. The Vikings still have a way to go in determining what the roster will look like on opening day less than a month.

Mickelson also is known for being a player who can turn it on in big moments.

It's no one's fault. It just seemed that way because he was winning so many of them. Next year the PGA moves to May and Bethpage Park in NY.

But Brooks Koepka will never move the needle like Tiger Woods. Watson and Simpson were successful together at Medinah in 2012, although neither has won a Ryder Cup singles match.

Woods playing - and playing well - has been gold for golf's TV ratings.

Woodland's best previous finish at a major was tied for 12th at the 2011 PGA, so this was a significant step for him.

Woods has not qualified for the Tour Championship yet, but he's ranked No. 20 in the FedEx Cup, and the top 30 make it to East Lake over the course of the first three playoff events.

You could argue it's a case of platitudes not being worth much unless you really act on them.

However, after undergoing spinal fusion surgery in April of 2017 - the fourth back surgery of his career - the 14-time major victor seems pain-free and has a rebuilt golf swing that's similar to the one that made him so dominant. It's an accident of history just as Bobby Jones' grand slam of the two Opens (British and US) and the two amateurs (same) was an accident of history.
