Google Play warns searchers that Fortnite "is not available"

As Fortnite is still in beta on Android, Epic Games isn't prepared for the large number of Android players that would jump into the game if it was available for everyone. That's it. You can also download the game straight from Epic's website.

While we will likely not get download numbers for the Android version of Fortnite for a while, it will be interesting to see if not being available on Google Play, or the linking of Fortnite searches to a PUBG download, has any effect on sales for either game on Android. Not so for owners of supported Galaxy devices. Like, now. And anyone who buys the new Samsung Note 9 or Galaxy Tab S4 will get access to the free Samsung Galaxy outfit. Well, that exclusive period is up and Fortnite is now available for more devices.

Google could miss out on a $50 million payday this year alone as a result of Epic Games' decision not to distribute Fortnite for Android through the Play Store.

While Epic Games continues to add new items, weapons, locations, and other content to Fortnite, the developer has remained quiet on the potential for weapon skins being introduced in the future. Once the game is open to all, users can head to the official game's website and click download and choose Android instead of PC, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and iOS.
