At E3 Bethesda confirmed there would be more ripping and tearing of demons as Doom Eternal was announced.

The news came at this year's QuakeCon, with the publisher confirming a Nintendo version alongside the PS4, Xbox One and PC editions of the game. New refreshes on existing enemies, along with newly reimagined demons from the original Doom 2, was also shown off, interestingly enough, the demon's in Doom Eternal will feature a complex destruction system, in which they will decay and fall apart as players dish out damage. As the DOOM Slayer, return to take your vengeance against the forces of Hell.

According to creative director Hugo Martin, Doom Eternal will run at 60FPS, but it's not clear on which platform. Despite the deceiving name which portrays all the good aspects of past titles, Doom Eternal is a proper sequel to the Doom reboot from 2016.

"We're not making a new Doom game any more".

QuakeCon 2018 finally provided us with our very first look at gameplay from DOOM Eternal. People playing as demons will even be able to team up to take down the DOOM Slayer, which is a pretty interesting twist on what has traditionally been a single player franchise. With updated armor and an arsenal of new and improved equipment, including a shoulder-mounted cannon with flamethrower, extendable blade, and a new dash ability, you're faster and deadlier than ever. Several guns have a "meat hook" at the end, for gruesome close range combat. We don't know anything else besides the facts that it's being developed in-house and is something new, as opposed to an extension of the previous game's multiplayer component. The big surprise of the reveal showed that other players can invade your campaign as demons, seeming somewhat similar to how invasions work in Dark Souls. Sign me up. New weapons include a wrist-mounted retractable blade used for the bloody "glory kills" that the game challenges you to complete and a shoulder-mounted flamethrower that's flawless for char-broiling large groups of baddies at the same time. With idTech7, every environment is brought to life in unprecedented detail.
