Blizzard Announces Multiple Diablo Projects


In June, a Blizzard job posting revealed it was "working on a new, unannounced Diablo project".

"The forges here at Blizzard are burning hot, and we have multiple Diablo projects in the works", community manager Brandy Camel said at the game's Facebook page. "None of this would be possible without the support that you've shown us for over 20 years". A Diablo III port would ensure two modes of play: on-the-go singleplayer or local multiplayer, and online multiplayer that could generate engagement while promoting other Blizzard games to boot.

With games like Path of Exile eating their lunch in the dungeon crawler genre Blizzard needs to bring it. What types of games do you believe are in the works?

Diablo fans are among the longest suffering subgroups of Blizzard aficionados, but the end is in sight - the studio says we're going to see more Diablo "later this year". Each time there is a slight inkling that new Diablo projects are in the works, I'm straight on it.

For instance, Blizzard noted at Blizzcon 2017 that it didn't have anything Diablo-related ready to show, but that there would be a time in the future when the studio would be ready to show something.
