In all, Nintendo announced five new characters for Super Smash Bros Ultimate today: Simon and Richter Belmont from Castlevania, Chrom from Fire Emblem, Dark Samus, and King K. Rool from Donkey Kong Country.

The new original fighters that were featured in the Super Smash Bros Ultimate Nintendo Direct capped off the presentation.

In Smash Bros Ultimate, players will have 103 stages to choose from, which is nearly double the amount found on Smash Bros Wii U. You'll also be able to turn on "stage morphing", which will show the stage switch out with a new one in the middle of a match.

"From Castlevania: Symphony of the Night and Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse, Alucard arrives as an Assist Trophy in Super #SmashBrosUltimate!" Thus, you can pick from a larger collection of music for each stage. Shovel Knight is only going to be an assist trophy. You can swap between them as you like via the characters elect screen.

Tourneys: A variant of an offline tournament mode is a Smash Bros. staple.

Squad Strike is a new addition that allows players to choose 5 or 3 characters to use consecutively against an opponent in one battle.

If enabled, players can charge their Final Smash Meter over the course of a battle. Morphing stages - switching between two stages mid-fight - have also been added.

Nintendo will also sell standalone Smash-themed GameCube controllers.

Training will feature an exclusive stage that measures the distance of moves both at low and high health.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will be released December 7 on Switch.
