Momentum turns to U.S. radical Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for inspiration

Conservative journalist and blogger Allie Beth Stuckey has posted a fake interview - using mashed-up clips from a real one - with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, discrediting the 29-year-old socialist running for Congress in NY.

In a recent interview with PBS, Ocasio-Cortez suggested Israel's "occupation" of Palestine was prompting a humanitarian crisis. That's more than a quarter of all itemized donations she received in June and about 71 percent of the roughly $99,400 in itemized donations she collected in the days after her victory over Crowley.

"And that was reflected in the donors", Trent said.

The 29-year-old political newcomer, who was a volunteer for Senator Bernie Sanders' presidential campaign in 2016, hit back at Desantis on Twitter, clearing up the confusion about "whatever she is" by referencing her Puerto Rican heritage and noting that 75,000 Puerto Ricans had relocated to Florida since Hurricane Maria devastated the USA island territory.

One must wonder whether Ms. Ocasio-Cortez's supporters would find the religious origin of her proposal offensive. As the Democratic party struggles to find its answer to President Donald Trump, both Ocasio-Cortez and Nixon have embraced democratic socialism, and are campaigning to push the Democratic party to the left.

DeSantis fired back in a tweet of his own saying, "My problem is not with your identity but with your unhinged socialist views".

But I'm sure these new FL voters appreciate your comments!

"We tried to talk about what her goals are coming to Congress, some of the stuff that we're doing as a progressive caucus and you know really trying to be helpful to her", Pocan, D-Wis., told ABC News. "I think the socialism and the ignorance is a toxic combination".

But, oooooh, he got the right one!

"I encourage the Democrats to go with the most progressive candidates possible around the country and run Ocasio-Cortez-like campaigns everywhere".

The chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Tom Perez, has praised Ocasio-Cortez as "the future" of his party. "It was nice to meet her", Gabbard said.

Hoyer declined to characterize Ocasio-Cortez as a unifying force for Democrats, but acknowledged she "certainly energizes the base". "Being unified and unanimous are not the same thing", Hoyer explained.
