A 33-year-old crew member aboard Norwegian Cruise Line's Getaway was seen going overboard 28 miles northwest of Pinar del Rio on Cuba's western side, the Coast Guard said.

It happened shortly before 3:30 p.m. Saturday almost 30 miles northwest of Pinar del Rio.

"A Coast Guard Air Station Miami HC-144 Ocean Sentry airplane crew was diverted to conduct search patterns at 3:30 p.m.", the Coast Guard said.

An employee on a Norwegian Cruise Lines ship is counting his blessings after a "miraculous" rescue in the open waters off Cuba on Sunday.

"We are also extremely grateful to Carnival Cruise Line and send our deepest thanks to the crew of Carnival Glory".

The incident is now under investigation.

Carnival Glory is now on a seven night cruise to the Western Caribbean from Miami.

He was listed in stable condition, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.

"Watchstanders directed the launch of a Coast Guard Air Station Clearwater MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter crew, now deployed in the Bahamas", the Coast Guard said. "Kudos to the Carnival Glory team for this wonderful effort to rescue a fellow seafarer", the spokesperson said. The Glory headed for Cozumel as its seven-day cruise continued.

But he was found 26 miles from their search area by the staff of the Carnival Cruise Line ship after actively searching for the missing worker.
