High Heat and Humidity Through the 4th of July

Although the excessive heat warning is only in effect Sunday and Monday, the heat wave is forecast to continue through the Independence Day holiday and beyond.

The National Weather Service notes that consecutive days of unsafe heat and humidity will bring an increased risk for heat related illness. The heat index should approach 100 on Friday afternoon and could get as high at 110 on Saturday afternoon.

Gusty winds, low relative humidity and high heat will bring the next round of high fire conditions across parts of Northern California and Utah.

Forecasters say it will be warm and muggy along the ME coast, but still cooler than communities farther inland. Temperatures feel roughly 10 degrees warmer when the heat index is factored in. Heat index values are forecast to reach 106 degrees tomorrow.

The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect from 8 a.m. Sunday to 8 p.m. Monday. Limit time outdoors if possible, and make sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water!

Because of the humidity, the 90s are feeling more like 100 to 105. However, it will still be hot and humid, with highs in the middle to upper 80s along the coast, and lower to middle 90s elsewhere.

In Minneapolis, the Park and Recreation Board closed recreation centers without air conditioning and canceled park and recreation programs for the evening. Highs will remain in the upper 80s to around 90. Near the lake, temperatures will stay in the 70s.
