She was 16 years old when she was sentenced, but she was tried as an adult. Johnson is a 63-year-old grandmother who is serving a life sentence for a first-time non-violent drug offence. "We are optimistic about Ms. Johnson's future and hopeful that she- and so many like her-will get a second chance at life", she tweeted.

Back in October of 2017, Kim shared her thoughts on the case and said it was "so unfair".

It's unclear whether Trump will ultimately grant Johnson clemency.

She also commented on how Trump seemed during the meeting. She's not only voiced support for Johnson but for Cyntoia Brown, the sex trafficking victim who was imprisoned at the age of 16 for killing a child predator who paid her for sex.

"I think Kim is bored with her money and unsatisfied with her marriage. you come here to hear it straight, right?" she continued.

Earlier Wednesday, Kardashian West tweeted a birthday message for Johnson.

Kardashian West took interest in Johnson's case after her story went viral a year ago. "Today is for you", Kardashian West tweeted Wednesday. She was a likely candidate for release when President Obama granted clemency to more than 200 people in 2016, many of them nonviolent offenders - but Johnson did not make the cut. Kardashian West was first drawn to the woman's story after seeing a video profile on Johnson produced by the outlet in 2017.

She also thanked Kardashian for using her platform to raise awareness on the issue of prison reform. The act was approved by the House of Representatives earlier this month. Kim is expected to ask Trump to pardon the great-grandmother.

Kardashian West was seen posing for photos in front of the West Wing before entering to discuss criminal justice reform with Kushner, the president's son-in-law.
