Senate race in West Virginia, urging Republicans to reject former coal executive Don Blankenship and instead vote for either U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins or state Attorney General Patrick Morrisey.
President Donald Trump has... learned... from a mistake...?
Mr. McConnell, who is profoundly unpopular among Republican primary voters, has mainly sidestepped the attacks, but his allies also have continued to assail Mr. Blankenship. "This thing has been going on within the Republican Party for some time and it resulted in Trump", he said.
Blankenship has a series of issues that make Republicans nervous about his chances of winning in a general election. "Remember Alabama", the president said. "Vote Rep. Jenkins or A.G. Morrisey!" If polling had shown Moore dead in the water, you can bet Trump would have been much more wary of getting involved.

"Swamp captain Mitch McConnell has created millions of jobs for Chinapeople", Blankenship says in a new ad that hit the airwaves last Friday. "The establishment is misinforming him because they do not want me to be in the U.S. Senate and promote the president's agenda", Mr. Blankenship said.
Blankenship also touted his millions of dollars in contributions to past Republican campaigns in the state, including spending $3.4 million to help elect the first Republican to the state Supreme Court in 2004.

The president has felt burned by Republicans once he injected himself into other races simply to watch his preferred applicants autumn limited. Republicans hold five of the six statewide offices, including governor. Blankenship will reveal his finances after the West Virginia primary on Tuesday.
"I'm proud to have President Trump's support", Jenkins said minutes later. Democrats have their own intraparty drama that could portend what happens in November, which we'll get to.
Meanwhile, Morrissey has attacked Blankenship, accusing him of not filing a personal financial disclosure form, according to The Hill.
