Oculus Go now available for purchase, starts at $199


The Go includes its own for-sale VR video library and access to Oculus TV, a new platform that allows users to access TV apps such as CBS All Access.

The product page also states that Amazon doesn't know "when or if this item will be back in stock".

Amazon actually put up the listing a bit ahead of schedule, offering pre-orders well ahead of the official announcement, all of which promptly sold out - then Amazon removed the pre-order button entirely having realized its mistake. The company has released plenty of details today during the Facebook Developers Conference, with Facebook VP of VR Hugo Barra taking to the stage as part of the keynote address.

As well as the standard 32GB version for $199, there is also a 64GB model available for $249.

'No planned store closures' as part of Sainsbury and Asda deal

Zuckerberg has billed the device as an attempt to make VR adopted by the masses, with the goal of getting one billion people using the technology, which transports people into simulated environments. According to Facebook, the Oculus Go has over 1,000 apps, games and experiences at launch, including Anshar Online, They Suspect Nothing and Space Explorers (NASA).

The new Go headset runs the same games and apps as Facebook's Gear VR system. It has 3DoF positional tracking both in the headset and the controller.

In 2014, Facebook paid $3 billion to acquire Oculus and retain its employees.
