Khan makes up for lost time with 40-second Lo Greco knockout

Amir Khan announced his return to boxing in devastating fashion with a spectacular 39-second knockout of Phil Lo Greco in Liverpool at the Echo Arena.

This was his first fight since signing for Matchroom and Eddie Hearn at the start of the year - but it didn't last long.

A sold-out Echo Arena, was stunned when Khan dropped Lo Greco with his first meaningful right hand with Lo Greco laid on the canvas.

After Khan destroyed Le Greco, there were immediate calls for the British boxer to face Kell Brook next. I want the fight.

Kell Brook responded to Khan who was ringside, saying Khan don't want the fight, Khan struggles to make 147lbs and why not make the fight at a catch-weight.

"I think this is probably going to be a showcase for Amir and it will show us what he's got left because it's been quite a while since he's been in the ring", the Sky Sports pundit said.

"The other thing that has always impressed me about him is he is kind-of gung-ho, if he gets hit and hurt - most people it's fight or flight - he wants to fight". I could not finish off with a loss in my career, I have to finish off with a few good wins and then call it a day. It's great to be in a position now where I can make it back to the top again.

Amir Khan threw a glass of water over opponent Phil Lo Greco after Lo Greco made personal comments about his wife Faryal Makhdoom at an opening press conference earlier this year. I came here to do a job, do a clinical job and box well. "I'm dying to put him to sleep".
