Reacting to the statement made by Buhari at the ongoing Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London, Moghalu accused the president's administration of causing unemployment in the country to rise from "8.2% in Q2 2015, to 18.8% now".

The statement said Buhari identified trade and investment facilitation to generate resources for sustainable development; ease of doing business and regional integration that expand markets, with safeguards against injurious trade practices from third parties; more inclusive growth with the empowerment of women and youths, as factors capable of making business among Commonwealth countries easier.

Nigeria is home to more than 180 million people, with 63% of the population living below the poverty line, according to the International Monetary Fund in a March 2018 report.

Dr Kingsley Moghalu, a 2019 presidential aspirant, has lambasted President Muhammadu Buhari for saying Nigerian youths "do nothing" and "want everything for free".

Buhari stated that many Nigerian youths have not been to school but they want education, health and housing free.

"But elementary English recognises a wide gulf between "a lot of" and the word 'all.' How can 'a lot of them, ' suddenly transmogrify to mean 'all of them?' Mischievous and unconscionable!" The president's latest salvo is totally unacceptable and must be condemned by all right-thinking people to avoid further verbal assault against our country, particularly at global fora.

"There is no way President Buhari, father of the Nigerian nation in every sense of the word, who equally has biological children of his own in the youth age bracket, pass a vote of no confidence on all youths".

President Muhammadu Buhari also used the occasion to advertise the economic opportunities that now abound in Nigeria, while calling on prospective investors to partake in the 2018 UK/Nigeria Trade and Investment Forum.

Others still vented their anger at the president following his comments.

Frank declared that as a youth, he will be contesting the National Chairmanship of the APC in the forthcoming national convention to prove that Nigerian youths are ready if given the opportunity and urged the President to support him as a young man so as to prove to the world that Nigerian youths are not lazy.
