In the overall ranking, which combines both 4G and 3G/2G speeds, Airtel is at #1 with 6.01 Mbps speed; Jio is at #2 with 5.13 Mbps speed and Idea is at #3 with 4.5 Mbps speed. 100 local and national SMS (short message service) per day are also offered in this plan.

With the start of the new financial year, telcos have started offering new tariff plans in the country, which again is to counter Reliance Jio.

That being said, telecom operator Vodafone emerged as the victor in 3G and 4G latency. Also, the plan provides the user unlimited voice calls even on roaming network and 100 SMS per day, which makes it 2800 SMS during the plan's validity period. And, in 3G download speeds, the second spot went to Idea, with the BSNL and Vodafone jointly sitting on the third position.

Reliance Jio also offers a similar plan like Idea's Rs 249 plan but it comes with a much lower price tag of Rs 198.

The silver lining for Reliance Jio is the award for 4G availability.

OpenSignal said Indian operators are focused on growing LTE's reach rather than injecting more speed into their 4G services. 4G Speeds, however, remained stagnant, but that could soon change as the wave of consolidation clears the way for new high-capacity networks.
