Arsene Wenger Concerned About Arsenal's Character, Balance After Newcastle Loss

After seeing Mustafi fail to track the run of Ayoze Perez during a disappointing 2-1 defeat for Arsenal at St James' Park, Gunners legend Keown told Match of the Day 2: "It's the away form that is the worst".

Arsene Wenger is known for not really hashing things out elaborately, and just letting his team do as they please.

But football's lawmakers, who ironically include the English FA, have given VARs the thumbs up, starting with the World Cup, and Wenger warned: "We are behind the rest of the world".

Wenger's men played out a 2-2 draw with CSKA Moscow in mid-week to qualify for the semi-finals of the Europa League.

Aubameyang and his Gunners' teammates were beaten 2-1 by Newcastle United in a Premier League tie as Arsenal's hope of finishing among the top four this season suffered a set back.

In terms of the game itself, it began at a slow pace as both teams wanted to see how each other were going to approach the game and that caused the Magpies a problem as the Gunners took the lead with their first real attack of the game.

But it was Newcastle who landed the knockout blow in the 68th minute.

His habit of trying to blame those mistakes one someone else - the referee for the Aguero goal, the assistant on numerous occasions and Petr Cech for the Southampton howler - only makes them increasingly frustrating.

Syrian air defences shoot down missiles in Homs
A local reporter for The Arab News said Israeli warplanes were spotted in Syrian airspace just before the missiles were reported. Syrian state media is widely believed to exaggerate their claims of shooting down incoming missiles .

The decision not to bring in the system next season was made at a recent Premier League shareholders meeting in London, when all 20 member clubs voted.

That is the verdict of former Premier League star turned pundit Danny Murphy.

"Arsenal fans are staying away at the moment, because it is not entertaining enough, and I think they will need someone with a little bit more flair".

'I guess that means the top-six.

"When you commit so many team mistakes, away or home, you get punished and Sunday proved that".

"They've had four wins in Europe and only three in the league".

Newcastle's winning margin could have been greater, but Kenedy's audacious effort came back off the woodwork late on.
