The handset's launch follows an investment made by Xiaomi in Black Shark Technology, a Chinese gaming company.

Xiaomi has announced that the first 50,000 buyers will get the gamepad mod for free with the Black Shark. It is expected to come with a 5.99-inch LCD display with full HD display with 2160 × 1080 pixels resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. A recent report pointed out that the phone's rear camera will indeed come with 20MP sensor alongside another 12MP sensor as well as a 20MP front sensor with all three of them were sourced from Sony. At the front, there's a 20MP selfie snapper with aperture rate of f/2.2. There is also a fingerprint scanner at the back. The Xiaomi Mi A1 is backed by a 3,080 mAh battery and offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Global Positioning System as connectivity options.
