Vincent Kompany challenges Manchester City to step up a gear next season

Manchester City won their fifth Premier League title on Sunday as West Bromwich Albion (WBA) beat their nearest rivals Manchester United 1-0 at Old Trafford.

It's been held by Manchester United since 2001.

Certainly, Liverpool's heroics in both the Champions League and Premier League, swarming all over City for three victories this term, and Manchester United's 3-2 comeback win at the Etihad which delayed the coronation, dented the aura.

City have made a habit of crushing opponents during relentless first half bursts and Everton discovered just how chastening an experience that can be as they were picked apart by Guardiola's rampaging men.

'We all believed in it, otherwise it wouldn't happen, ' Kompany said.

Sure in the past couple of weeks they were trash against Liverpool twice and threw away a lead against Manchester United but it's been the only ammo we've had.until now!

Manchester City club captain Vincent Kompany celebrates a win.

JGBs flat ahead of March trade balance data, national consumer price inflation

"I've seen many teams win it where they've been champions all season and it's a first for me". It is hard to speak about Manchester City for me, but what Pep Guardiola has done is awesome; to win the title with the football he plays is great. If you read what the people say this week we have to improve.

Guardiola's team has lost only two league games this season and if they win their remaining five games would end the campaign with 102 points.

"(Manchester City) does not have a history behind it at the level of titles but it does have the desire to become winners", he told a South American TV company.

The Premier League's record points tally of 95, set by Chelsea in 2004-05, is within City's reach if they can take nine from their last fixtures.

"Today was the day for the Blues, the e's been many days for the Reds before".

"I don't know if I was the first or second or third but I congratulate them face to face when I had the chance", Mourinho said.

City have scored 93 goals this season. "United's record winning margin of 18 points, set in 1999-2000, is another that is within City's reach". And why can't he dominate this league playing the way he plays? I'm buzzing, over the moon, so happy and proud to be able to share this with all of our fans, everybody who's been there to support us especially in this last week as many know it's been very hard but at the same time we've bounced back, we're champions now and thank you to all of you, It's an incredible season.
