The rookie guard exploded for 27 points and 10 rebounds against the Oklahoma City Thunder and, though the end result was a loss for his team, the defeat certainly did not come as a result of struggles from Mitchell.

Mitchell left the game briefly after Corey Brewer awkwardly stepped on his left foot, but the rookie was able to finish out Sunday's contest.

Mitchell returned with 7:47 left in the fourth quarter but was subbed out about a minute later after making a jumper and grimacing as he ran back on defense.

Addressing reporters afterwards, Mitchell downplayed concerns about the injury and said that it was just a stubbed toe.

Broncos Cut Running Back CJ Anderson
The veteran running back broke the 1,000 rushing yard mark for the first time against the Kansas City Chiefs in December. He ran for 3,051 yards and 20 touchdowns in his 58-game career with the Broncos and was a Pro Bowl selection in 2014.

"I was just limping, and they saw me limping and thought I needed to come out, "but I was just being a baby".

Game 2 is scheduled 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday in Oklahoma City.

Donovan Mitchell is not about to let injury kill his vibe during his first career trip to the postseason. "And then he went back". Head coach Quin Snyder didn't seem overly concerned as he said: "Everything that we know right now, he's fine". "So I'm excited to get this thing going". "He will play in Game 2 on Wednesday".
