The 44-year-old Rangers pitcher was flawless through seven innings against the Astros before walking Carlos Correa on a 3-1 pitch to leadoff the eighth inning. In the third inning, Colon struck out Marwin Gonzalez and Derek Fisher to keep his flawless game bid alive. Nolan Ryan was also 44 when he threw a no-hitter, but over 150 days younger.

Colon took a ideal game into the eighth inning before doling out a walk and then allowing a double to Josh Reddick.

While nobody expected Colon to flirt with perfection Sunday night, his work on the mound continued what has been a solid start to his Rangers career.
