Liverpool defender Joel Matip set to miss rest of season

A statement on Liverpool's official website said: "Joel Matip is likely to require an operation on a thigh injury, Liverpool can confirm". However the long season is finally catching up with Jurgen Klopp's side with a spate of injuries mounting up as we hit the last two months of the season.

Adam Lallana left the field less than ten minutes after coming on as a substitute on Saturday. While there is not set timetable to return, it will be a surprise to see him again before the season finale. "It is absolutely not the time to bring any rush into the situation".
