Facebook Apologizes for Auto-Suggesting Child-Porn Videos

Facebook said it was investigating the incident but didn't provide additional information.

Among the searches Facebook's algorithms were offering we're "video of girl sucking dick under water", "videos of sexuals" and "video of little girl giving oral". On typing "video of" in the search bar, it gives us a disturbing result.

The social media giant has since come out and apologized for the error, and said that they are now investigating the matter.

Facebook has apologized after some of its users reported that sexually explicit videos, including abusive content, was suggested to them via the social media giant's search bar. The fact that people are searching for a video of child abuse is concerning, but this appears to be a case of Facebook's algorithm working exactly as intended - with a rather unpleasant outcome. "As soon as we became aware of these offensive predictions we removed them", a Facebook statement provided to the Guardian reads.

Modi to visit Manipur today
The government has set a target of 100 Gw (gigawatts) of installed solar power by 2022, Modi told the gathering. There is a need, the prime minister said, to communicate our scientific achievements to society.

Fortunately, Facebook didn't actually show any of the videos that its search results suggested.

Facebook always want to help its users to find what they want easily among the billions of staus, photos, and videos that are shared on the social network. Which doesn't really explain how those videos were allowed to be uploaded or why they were searchable in the first place.

The social media platform was also under scrutiny following a survey conducted just last week. "We do not allow sexually explicit imagery, and we are committed to keeping such content off our site", it continued.

The problem affected not only English language users, and there were lots of reports from Facebook users seeing incredibly odd suggestions, even after the offensive ones were removed.
