Nicolas Cage to Voice Superman in "Teen Titans GO!" Animated Movie

And now, in what is perhaps the greatest casting joke/cameo in superhero history (sorry, Stan Lee), they've gotten Nicolas Cage to be their Superman. To The Movies. This spin-off of the popular Cartoon Network show finds the title characters - including Robin, Cyborg, Raven, Beast Boy, and Starfire - heading to Hollywood in hopes of getting a movie made about their adventures. Other cameo cast members include singer Halsey (Wonder Woman) and rapper Lil Yachty (Green Lantern).

While Cage never got to play his favorite hero on the big screen, USA Today reports that he will voice Superman in the upcoming animated film Teen Titans GO! Existing in the same continuity as their insane yet still active show on Cartoon Network, the Teen Titans find out that other DC superheroes seem to have films produced, so they seek out the ideal director for their debut on the big screen, but an old enemy has other ideas planned for them.

In addition to the more stunt-cast celebrities, the voice cast for the Teen Titans Go! movie also features Will Arnett, Kristen Bell, and series regulars Khary Payton, Greg Cipes, Scott Menville, Tara Strong, and Hynden Walch.

It's safe to say Nicolas Cage is a Superman superfan. Cage's Superman fandom isn't much of a secret; he once owned a rare copy of the hero's 1938 debut comic, and he named his son Kal-El in honor of Superman's Kryptonian name. Somehow, we think comic book blockbusters would be very different today if this movie had come to pass.

Cage is a self-proclaimed Superman obsessive. The development and cancellation of the infamous project was chronicled in the documentary The Death of Superman Lives: What Happened? in 2015.

With a few madcap ideas and a song in their heart, the Teen Titans head to Tinsel Town, certain to pull off their dream. But when the group is radically misdirected by a seriously super villain and his maniacal plan to take over the Earth, things really go awry.
