Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said the USA expects North Korea to be in direct touch after President Donald Trump agreed to Kim Jong Un's invitation to meet, urging patience as preparations for the potentially historic handshake are worked out. "He can start by nominating a qualified candidate for the position of US ambassador to the ROK [Republic of Korea]".
She said that the U.S.is continuing to prepare for the summit on a number of levels but stressed that the U.S.' maximum pressure campaign against the North will continue, saying North Korea responded thanks to the campaign. As Baik suggested, sometimes it takes a while to figure out what that message should be.
After having been the guarantor of North Korea's security, indeed, its very existence, for years and after having acceded to Mr Trump's numerous appeals for help, China today is in the awkward position of not knowing if either the United States or North Korea is willing to hold their unprecedented meeting on Chinese soil. It has also proposed a "suspension-for-suspension" plan in which the United States, South Korea and Japan freeze military drills in return for North Korea halting its nuclear and missile tests.
Kim has yet to publicly confirm his invitation to meet with Trump in a bid to defuse a standoff over Pyongyang's nuclear programme, and officials in Seoul and Washington say the exact location and timing of any summit remain to be determined. "We've not heard anything directly back from North Korea, although we expect to hear something directly from them". That doesn't seem to be the case here - this South Korean-brokered meeting has come somewhat out of the blue.

His first goal in particular didn't resemble a player short on confidence and without a goal in the league since early December. In fact, United have scored only one fewer than Spurs, who enjoy far more acclaim as cavaliers and get a far better press.
He said that no venue for the meeting had been agreed upon.
Trump is widely unpopular in South Korea, according to analysts based there, and vilified in North Korea, just as he has spent months demonizing Pyongyang and threatening it with "fire and fury". Trump then agreed to meet Kim by the end of May, he said. The follow up visit of the high-level delegation from Seoul to Pyongyang for talks with the North Korean leader was certainly another vital link in the chain of events that finally culminated in the broad agreement to hold a summit between President Trump and Kim Jong-un.

The economic sanctions, the commentary said, "played an essential role in forcing Pyongyang to recalculate the cost-and-benefit equation" and "China's faithful implementation helped make the Security Council's resolutions effective". But there is no reason to think that time is now, and much reason to assume that Trump, as usual, doesn't know what he is doing.
