Buhari Arrives Benue, Meets Stakeholders

President Muhammadu Buhari has arrived Makurdi, the Benue State capital, to meet with the Governor Samuel Ortom, and stakeholders.

Buhari is billed to visit the Benue on Monday in continuation of his tour of states ravaged by insecurity.

President Buhari had visited Taraba State last week, and is also expected to visit Yobe, Zamfara and Rivers states where there have been reports of terror attacks and clashes.

On his part, the President General of Mdzough u Tiv, a socio-cultural umbrella body of the Tiv people, Engr.

Governor Ortom said the sending of two delegations to assess extent of damage caused in the state as a result of herdsmen and farmers conflict ahead of the President's visit was a sign of hope that the IDPs would return to their homes.

He said the continued violence and insurgency required collaboration and collective urgent attention, stressing that tackling security challenges must begin from the roots to secure permanently solution.

Representative of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Benue Chapter, Shettima Mohammed, denied responsibility for the Benue attacks.

He stated further that the burial will now take place next week Thursday.
