Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC Benchmarked, May be Better than Apple's A11

In terms of integer performance, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC scores an average of 31 percent higher absolute performance compared to its predecessor.

All in all, what the benchmarks tell us is that the Snapdragon 845 SoC is the fastest Android chip right now and is set to make upcoming flagship smartphones from companies like Samsung, Nokia, LG, OnePlus, Xiaomi and Google incredibly fast and perform extremely well, at least compared to the Snapdragon 835 or similar competitors.

While there have been a lot of speculations and information leaks related to the Galaxy S9's technical specifications, Samsung has not yet officially announced anything about its next flagship.

Qualcomm unveiled the chip in December, promising 20% faster maximum download speeds, 25% faster processing, and 30% faster graphics performance.

The benchmarks carried out were only able to test the CPU, GPU and the system memory, and to some extent power efficiency. It is expected to use the Snapdragon 845 in some markets and its own Exynos chipset for some regions.

Erin Hamlin, the face of USA Luge, set to say goodbye
However, according to fellow Olympian Shani Davis , the process that led to Hamlin being named flag bearer was not a fair one . The opening ceremony took place at 11am on Friday but hundreds of competitors from countries all round the world were absent.

When Geekbench 4 benchmark testing was used on the Snapdragon 845, the device that was utilized was able to obtain a score between 8395 and 8424 in the multi-core test.

For comparison, Galaxy S8 - which shipped with an Exynos 8895 chipset inside - managed to score 1954 in single-core performance and 6428 for multi-core. But how much of an improvement is it over the Snapdragon 835 and rival chipsets? As like the last time the Galaxy S9 will have only 4GB of RAM this time too, which is quite enough for a powerful smartphone these days. That's practically imperceptible from the iPhone 8 Plus' 85fps, and another big improvement on the Snapdragon 835 and its Adreno 540 GPU; the older chip struggles to even break 60fps. I really want a high-end phone that can easily last a full day of heavy use, and hopefully, the Snapdragon 845 can help achieve this.

Apart from the speed of the Snapdragon 845, it is also interesting to note that the Snapdragon 845 is also very power efficient which is very helpful in consuming battery life.

The Snapdragon 845 architecture so far is not a minor jump from previous year, basing on the benchmark report shared by AnandTech.
