Net interest income fell 18.4 per cent to Rs 2,501 crore, non-interest income by 70 per cent to Rs 1,041 crore, while operating profit fell 81.5 per cent to Rs 1,354 crore.
Gross NPAs spiked 30 per cent to Rs 64,249 crore over the previous quarters, while net NPAs shot up 53 per cent to Rs 36,117 crore.
The bank's asset quality deteriorated further in the December quarter as gross non-performing assets (NPAs) in absolute term rose 26.51 per cent to Rs 13,720.69 crore in the quarter under review. Gross and net NPAs were higher at 16.93 and 10.29 per cent, respectively.
Also, for the second list of defaulters headed towards IBC by RBI, BOI has made additional provisions of Rs 256.88 crore as of December 2017.

Mohapatra said that in 20 days, the bank has recovered around Rs 5,000 crore (of Rs 9,405 crore) and has already issued notices for the rest.
Banks total deposits remained nearly flat at Rs 1,25,579 crore, however, savings deposits increased by Rs 220 crore from a year ago. NPA provision was ₹4,373 crore as compared with ₹2,546 crore. Advances were up at Rs68,250 crore in third quarter this fiscal from Rs67,866 crore.
Provisions and contingencies were raised to Rs 918.12 crore for third quarter of 2017-18 against Rs 540.29 crore for the same quarter of previous fiscal, the bank said in a regulatory filing.
"The advance portfolio has expanded by about Rs 384 crore mainly due to growth in MSME advance by 17.70 per cent and growth in housing loan and auto loan segment by 23.63 per cent and 31.31 per cent, respectively". Besides BoI, the large losses include SBI's surprise loss of Rs 2,416 crore, Central Bank of India's Rs 1,664 crore loss, IDBI Bank's fifth straight quarterly loss of Rs 1,524 crore and UCO Bank's 9th straight quarterly loss of Rs 1,016 crore.
