Person in custody after 'possible hostage situation' on Greyhound; No injuries reported


Reports of a person with a gun on the bus led to the police chase that began late Friday and lasted 2½ hours, The Chicago Tribune reported.

Numerous police agencies from Wisconsin and IL are responding to an incident involving a Greyhound bus. Greyhound said in a statement that the incident began around 9:50 p.m. CT. The pursuit ended near the exit for Illinois Route 173 near Wadsworth.

Officials say all 50 passengers were evacuated from the bus, and a suspect is in custody. They were eventually removed from the bus safely.

Lanes remain closed while the investigation continues.

Authorities have not confirmed any other specific details about what happened.

The pursuit started on Interstate 94 in Racine County, Wisconsin around 10:06 PM on Friday, January 12th and traveled south down the interstate into northern IL.
