PA Lottery Powerball Ticket Worth $250000 Sold in Luzerne County


They're urging everyone to check their tickets and come forward to start the prize collection process as soon as they can.

Lottery officials say when the victor realized he had a $1 million ticket, he checked the numbers at least nine times.

Since the Oregon Lottery began selling tickets on April 25, 1985, it has earned more than $11 billion for economic development, public education, state parks and watershed enhancements. Players should check every ticket, every time.

In the 2016-17 fiscal year, in addition to awarding more than $92.2 million in prizes to winners in Luzerne County, the Pennsylvania Lottery contributed more than $35.7 million to programs serving the county's older residents. Purchasing the $1 Power Play option allows a victor to increase lower-tier prizes by a factor of 2, 3, 4 or 5, depending on the Power Play number drawn. The jackpot on January 3 was $460 million. It was sold with the $1 Power Play option, which boosted the prize to $250,000 instead of $50,000 because the multiplier drawn was five. It is $1 million without Power Play.
