Dahanu: Boat carrying 40 children capsized off the coast, 4 dead

A boat with 40 school children on board capsized near Maharashtra's Dahanu on Friday, a news agency ANI report said. So far, 32 children have been rescued.

4 dead, 32 rescued out of the 40 students who were on board a boat that capsized 2 nautical miles from the seashore in Dahanu.

"There was an incident of boat capsize at Dahanu Parnaka Beach". All our local officers and staff are on the spot. 25 students were rescued with the help of locals and search for the remaining 11 students is on.

Coast guard PRO said ships which were at sea have been diverted to the site of mishap and ships are also sailing from Mumbai.

"Overloading is said to be the cause of the mishap". Dahanu is a coastal town known for Chickoo farming and a tourist destination in Palghar District.
