Standing with her mostly female cast, she said the hope is that the show gives a voice to women and sets an example for other productions for its employment of women both in front of and behind the camera.
The Handmaid's Tale tells the story of a future where women are judged based exclusively on their ability to reproduce. She dedicated her win to women who paved the way in the past, and the writer Margaret Atwood, who was absent due to illness. We lived in the blank white spaces at the edge of print.
