The PS4 has cumulatively sold through more than 70.6-million units to consumers worldwide as of December 3, this year. The drop in sales of its gaming console could be the reason that Microsoft stopped manufacturing Xbox One. A new PlayStation VR shooter is on the way.

Is Air Products and Chemicals, Inc. (NYSE:APD) Primed For a Move?
Armbruster Capital Management Inc. lifted its holdings in shares of Air Products & Chemicals by 13.5% during the second quarter. Shares have moved $2.27 over the past month and more recently, $0.91 over the past week heading into the earnings announcement.
Further reports reveal that Sony's stocks went up for 0.75 percent a day after the achieved milestones were announced. Microsoft no longer breaks out sales numbers, but one estimate puts the total at around 30 million as of August.
Analysts estimate that Microsoft's Xbox sales have been less than half those of PlayStation since both the Xbox One and the PS4 launched back in 2013. Although it might be too early to reach a conclusion in the competition, it does seem that Sony will be remaining on top for the foreseeable future.
The 2 million PlayStation VR units sold also makes the company a real force in virtual reality, an area in which Facebook's Oculus, Steam and HTC's Vive, and the Samsung Gear VR are staking claims. For the PSVR, Sony says there are over 130 "highly anticipated games and other entertainment content in development" for release next year.
