Mewani is contesting the Gujarat Assembly polls as an independent candidate from the Vadgam constituency in Banaskantha district and has received support from the Congress and Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party which have not fielded any candidate from the seat, thereby making the election in Vadgam a direct clash between the BJP and Mewani. He will also launch the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre For Socio-Economic Transformation (DAICSET).
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre at 15 Janpath, Delhi tomorrow.
The Prime Minister said the country was indebted to Ambedkar for his contributions to nation-building.
"Such was his incredible strength that when years after his demise efforts were made by such people to crush his philosophy, when efforts were made to erase his contribution towards nation-building, his ideals could not be wiped out from people's memory", he said.

The Prime Minister said the idea to construct the centre was conceived in 1992. He had laid the foundation stone of this Institute in April 2015. "But these days they are not remembering Baba Saheb, but Baba Bhole". "Even that is okay", he said. "Anyway, such people nowadays can not remember Baba Saheb but are seeing Baba Bolenath", he said, apparently referring to the political row kicked by Gandhi's visit to the famous Somnath temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, in Gujarat. "The BJP may say anything, but I will remain honest", he had said in Ahmedabad.
Caste divisions, he added, put brakes on the pace of development.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar's dream of equality for all especially social equality was yet to be fulfilled. Today's generation has the capability and the potential to eradicate social evils. "Things are changing. The ills of society are being removed", he said.
