College football landscape reacts to Penn State RB Saquon Barkley getting snubbed

"I couldn't be more proud of Saquon and everything he has accomplished at Penn State", Penn State coach James Franklin said in a statement earlier this week when Barkley won the Paul Hornung award as the nation's most versatile player. He is a finalist for the Maxwell Award, the Doak Walker Award, and the Walter Camp Player of the Year Award.

The college football world has already reacted to Barkley's Heisman snub, but the Nittany Lions community once again had his back after missing out on the other two awards Thursday.

All things considered, Barkley was worthy of national recognition.

By an overwhelming margin, they voted Barkley the victor of the 2017 Chicago Tribune Silver Football, awarded annually to the league's best player. He rushed fro 2,154 yards this season, joining Larry Johnson as the second player in school history to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season.

Barkley, named victor of the Paul Hornung Award as major college football's most versatile player, did not dominate statistically.

Barkley and his family will be honored on March 7, 2018 at the annual Paul Hornung Award Banquet at the Galt House.

Mayfield leads No. 2 Oklahoma into the College Football Playoff as the country's premier passer.

Love racked up 1,973 rushing yards, 8.3 yards per attempt and 17 touchdowns on the ground - which ranks second, fourth and seventh nationally, respectively.
