Santa Maria Airport sending tankers to fight Thomas Fire

NASA's Terra satellite captured an image on Tuesday afternoon showing gray plumes of smoke from the fires, pushed by Santa Ana winds, drifting far out into the Pacific.

A mandatory evacuation order was issued for people living in the rural areas along Highway 150, who were advised to use that highway to Highway 192 to avoid congestion on Highway 101.

"Everything was just blowing up in front of us", he said.
