The Skirball fire began burning on the east side of the 405 around 5 a.m., near the Getty Center in Brentwood.

The entire Sepulveda Pass, both north and southbound lanes of the 405 Freeway, will be closed between the 101 and the 10 Freeway indefinitely.

Officials also issued a full closure of the 405 Freeway.

This map, published by the Daily News, shows where the fire is burning right now-and how close it is to landmarks such as the Getty Center and the Skirball Cultural Center. Along with the lack of much-needed rain, the Santa Ana winds have made it very hard to contain and put out the fires. All homes between Mulholland Drive to the north, Sunset Boulevard to the south, Roscomare Road to the east and the 405 to the west have been told to evacuate.

VW boss gets 7 years in US prison
In August, VW auto engineer James Liang received a 40 month sentence and a $US200,000 ($263,713) fine for his role in the scandal. Other Volkswagen executives have been charged in this case, but they remain in Germany, out of reach of American authorities.

Simultaneously, other wildfires are blazing in different parts of the Southland including the 65,000-acre Thomas fire in Ventura County, the 11,000-acre Creek fire near Sylmar and Lake View Terrace and the 7,000-acre Rye fire in Santa Clarita area, ABC7 reported. The blaze was accompanied by Santa Ana winds of 25 miles per hour.

Misraje, who lives in the hills herself off Mulholland Drive, was staying put and telling her members and any clients to listen to authorities, stay in their homes if their area was not being evacuated to keep the roads free, and to stay inside to avoid the contaminated air.

A smaller fire popped up Tuesday afternoon in Porter Ranch but was knocked down without threatening structures or prompting evacuations. The northbound side of the 405 was shut down about 5 a.m.

All Santa Monica-Malibu Los Angeles Unified School District schools will be closed Wednesday due to the fire. "We continue to monitor the situation and will issue updates as we have them".
