Buhari Visits Kano, Grants Amnesty to 500 Prison Inmates

Buhari said the amnesty was part of federal government's effort to decongest prisons in the country and urged the beneficiaries of the gesture to be of good behaviour and shun anything that could bring them back to the prison in future. "The people of Kano are aware of the tremendous jobs we did on security and agriculture", Buhari said.

"When I was the military head of state, I arrested many people and jailed them for alleged corruption and in the end, I also ended in jail".

He also commended Governor Ganduje for the completion and upgrade of the hospital.

Kwankwaso, who is enmeshed in an increasingly ugly political conflict with his hand-picked successor, Umaru Ganduje, was said to have travelled to Egypt, purportedly to settle the fees of some Kano State-sponsored students in that country.

The President is expected to commission some multi-billion naira projects including two general hospitals, underpass and a 21.1 kilometer dual road.

Kano State Governor, Ganduje during the President's visit announced the naming of Giginyu specialist hospital after President Buhari which is to be called Muhammadu Buhari Specialist Hospital. "I'm highly impressed with what Governor Ganduje is doing in Kano". I'm proud to see this kind of enormous project executed for the people of Kano.
