Lake effect snow arriving Tuesday night

There is a lake effect snow warning for Wyoming County, and other areas to the southwest such as Erie, Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties.

Winter storm watches have been issued for mid-week in Tug Hill and Western New York. Outside of lake effect areas only a few light snow showers are expected, the Weather Service said in a forecast discussion.

There's a winter storm watch for Jefferson and Lewis counties that starts at 7 a.m. Wednesday and lasts until 7 a.m. Friday.

The watch for Wyoming County goes into effect at 6 p.m. Wednesday and continues through late Thursday night.

Narrow bands of heavy snow could impact portions of the region.

As far as temperatures, highs over the next several days will be in the low- to mid-30 and overnight lows will mainly be in the mid-20s.

We could still see some snow over the weekend.
