The main difference is that the Doctor Strange movie transported Marvel movie fans into the metaphysical worlds of "magic" and multiverse theory; Morbius would take a normal man on a journey into a frightening world of the occult, while also providing a great "man vs. his savage nature" thematic arc that has been sorely missing from the modern vampire genre.
Sony Pictures is developing a solo spinoff project for Morbius, reports THR.
The next Spider-Man spinoff might be bloody terrifying. When asked if this story will have any connections to Tom Holland's Spider-Man, Sony refused to comment. So whether you know the Living Vampire from his battles with Spider-Man in the comics, his appearance in the 90s animated series, or his anti-heroic adventures alongside the members of the Order of the Midnight Sons, or even if you don't know Morbius at all, this should come as exciting news.
Morbius is Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who suffered from a rare blood disease and attempted to cure himself to disastrous results. He first appeared in Amazing Spider-Man #101, which was the first issue not written by Stan Lee.
The bad news is that the film is being written by Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama, two collaborators who have worked on writing such classics as Dracula Untold, The Last Witch Hunter, Gods of Egypt and, most recently, Power Rangers.
The question is: Can Morbius work as a movie that is separated from both Spider-Man and the larger MCU?

Sony has added another title to their Spider-Man universe.
While the character of Peter Parker is now shared between Sony and Marvel, Sony still owns the rights to Spider-Man and the superhero's stable of related characters. First and foremost, Morbius needs a good story.
Furthermore, Sony has not mentioned how they will be reinventing the character of Morbius or if they will sticking to canon material.
In the early days of comic book movies, Marvel's Blade was brought to the big screen and found modest success.
