"As some of you know, my mother Gloria passed away recently and I canceled our shows last week to be with my family and make arrangements".

At one point she changed the lyrics of "New Year's Day", a track from her new album Reputation, to say, "Squeeze my hand three times in the back of the taxi".

The Fever Pitch actor recalled the sweetest memory he has of his mother and tried to hold back his tears while remembering her. She was the one I was always trying to make laugh.

Fallon told a story Monday night about how his mother would hold his hand as a kid, and would squeeze three times and tell him that she loved him. "She said yes with zero hesitation", DiCenzo wrote.

The chat show host said he was greatly appreciative of the support he and his family received during such a hard time.
