Kohli echoed Gavaskar's opinion when he said that Dhoni is being unfairly targeted. Agarkar said in a meeting to ESPN Cricinfo, "I figure India should now take a gander at different options, at any rate in T20Is". I think he should keep playing one-day cricket, but he has to play differently in T20s. When you were the commander of the side, it was unique. But just as a batsman, will India miss him, I don't think so. "In T20 cricket, it is parcel less demanding to make that change as there is part of involvement in that group separated from MS Dhoni now".
Ravi Shastri has thrown his weight behind MS Dhoni and reckoned that great players like him decide their own future.
"First, I don't understand why are people only pointing him out, I'm not able to understand this". He is correct he is not questioned even if he fails in three matches in a row because he is not 35 whereas after only one failure they say Dhoni's time is up! The guy is fit, he is passing all the fitness tests. It has been my dream to contribute to the game in every way possible. "With the bat, he did really well against Sri Lanka (away series) and Australia", he reminded everyone, he had told the media in a press conference after Mahi was subjected to intense scrutiny by a few retired cricketers. "In this series, he has not got much time to bat", Kohli had said after India's win in Thiruvananthapuram. Having had enough, Dhoni, who, in general refrains from talking on such controversial matters has finally opened up about the criticism he is facing. After eight straight Test losses away from home, Dhoni the captain came under huge pressure, which was accentuated by a 2-1 home series loss to England in 2012-13, the first time India had lost at home in more than eight years.
"Representing the country is the best motivation for me". You can play for one year to 15 years, some play 20 years, but in the life span, let's say you live for 70 years, 10 to 15 years is nothing and that's the only time you can proudly say that I'm representing my country.
Giroud happy to stay at Arsenal in January
Olivier Giroud plans to stay at Arsenal beyond January, despite being left out of Arsene Wenger's top flight line-ups. I am happy at Arsenal and I am fine with the decision to stay'.
Though several fans and veteran cricketers opined that Dhoni should now retire and make place for young cricketers in the team, both Kohli and Shastri countered. In his long cricket career, the 36-year-old has garnered many praises for his batting and captaincy but the passion to represent the nation has kept him motivated.
"I always feel you have to believe in your abilities and out of the 10 games, if you are winning six or seven that way, then it is the right thing to do". I have always believed that the process is more important than the result.
"I have always been involved in the process, and have never burdened myself with what if the result does not go my way".
