A man dressed as Santa Claus opened fire during a Halloween party in Texas, injuring four people, police said.
Knouse said the victims knew the suspect and the shooting was not a random act of violence.
"There was described a white male subject that was dressed up as Santa Claus had shot a number of victims at the private residence", he told reporters.
As police were on their way to the scene they received a call saying the suspect was at a second location "making contact".
Typically, Knouse said, police do not expect an uptick in violence around the Halloween holiday.

Despite their advantage, Zidane's men looked shaky at the back as they regularly gave away possession in risky areas. Stuani had a huge chance to make the game safe when chipped the ball beyond Casilla and wide of the far post.
Four individuals at the party were injured, Fox News reported. Two patients, a man in his 20s and a woman in her 30s, were taken to the hospital with critical injuries. A fourth person declined treatment at the shooting scene.
Police eventually arrested the suspect without incident.
Austin police said the shooter is in custody.
Knouse said charges are likely but could not provide details, citing an ongoing investigation.
