But Campos finally appeared on "Ellen" in what he said would be his only public comments on the shooting. David Hickey, president of the Security, Police, and Fire Professionals of America (SPFPA), told CrimeOnline on Monday that Campos was with another security official when he left the hotel, and that Hickey was told they went to a walk-in medical clinic.

Jesus Campos - who was originally praised as the hero who stopped Stephen Paddock's mass shooting - was announced as Wednesday's guest on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show".

DeGeneres tweeted a photo of Campos holding a cane on the set Tuesday alongside maintenance engineer Stephen Schuck, who was also shot at by the gunman on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel.

It was first thought that Campos tried to confront Paddock after hearing bullets rain down on festival-goers, he was shot, then Paddock killed himself because he thought he was compromised.

"The message was, 'We are taking him to a Quick Care, ' " Hickey stated, alluding to a stroll in wellbeing facility with a few areas in and around Las Vegas.

Campos was shot during an October 1 confrontation with Paddock during a deadly spree in which the gunman killed 58 people and injured hundreds of others.

What makes his silence and disappearance even more weird is authorities dramatically changed their version of events leading up to Paddock's death in the week after the shooting.

It comes as confusion builds over what actually happened to him on the fateful night.

All told, the singer has 15 dates between now and the end of November that could potentially be affected. But the fans should be patient as further medical examination of singer might bring good news.

Police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have yet to identify Paddock's motive, despite hundreds of interviews - including with Campos; Paddock's girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who was in the Philippines at the time of the shooting; and with Paddock's brother, Eric Paddock, who lives in Florida.

The possibility exists that the interview was filmed before Campos vanished from the hotel room. Campos walked up to the next floor and came back down to the 32nd floor to check why the door wasn't opening. Hickey didn't hear from Capos and had to cancel the interviews on his behalf.

"We're planning to get notification from Mr. Campos, and if Mr. Campos gets in touch with us for help we will be there", the union boss told AP.

The statement didn't say where Campos is.

Hickey said on Friday that Campos wanted to speak with the media and tell his side of the story, which made the decision to flee "highly unusual".

Drapes billow out of broken windows at the Mandalay Bay resort and casino on the Las Vegas Strip, following a deadly shooting at a music festival in Las Vegas.

"Jesus Campos wants to tell his story at a time and place of his choosing", the company told the Las Vegas Review-Journal on Tuesday.

Schuck was gifted with an all-expenses paid trip to an Indianapolis Colts game, while Campos was given free season tickets to the Oakland Raiders once they move to Las Vegas.
