Mathews went outside about 15 minutes later to check on her, but Sherin was gone, the affidavit states.

Mathews said he ordered Sherin Mathews to stand next to a tree behind the fence at their Richardson home at around 3 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest affidavit. Mathews was arrested on charges of endangering a child but released after posting bail. "Why was the last sighting at 3 o'clock and the parents not call us until after 8 am, that's the question we want answered as well", Perlich was quoted as saying by Dallas Morning News. Both parents have retained attorneys - Sherin's mother was not accused of any wrongdoing, while her father had not yet entered a plea in relation to charges leveled against him.

The Richardson police and Federal Bureau of Investigation sleuths are on an extensive search in Texas for a 3-year-old Indian girl who went missing on October 7 after her foster father allegedly asked her to stand outside the house late in the night as a punishment for not drinking milk.

Police were checking on registered sex offenders in the area who might be connected to Sherin's disappearance, but noted there was no evidence she had been kidnapped.

The missing child had developmental issues and has limited verbal communication skills when compared to a typical 3-year-old in the US, Sergeant Perlich added.

Sherin is described as Asian, about 3 feet tall and 22 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes.

The Mathews family adopted Sherin 2 years ago from an Indian orphanage.

Investigators have seized three vehicles, cellphones and laptops from the family as well as footage from surveillance cameras in the area in an effort to find out what became of Sherin.

Another thing that happened at San Diego Comic-Con: Jason Momoa made some comments about rape. In light of the anger at Momoa's comments, he wrote that reactions were " justified ".

Police said the little girl also has disabilities that make it hard for her to communicate.

The community is also shaken up from the matter as well as the toddler's great-uncle.

As times ticks on, the people committed to this search say they're going to keep looking for Sherin regardless of whether the family comes out to help. "The parents are believers in Christ".

"I can't say anything about that". They loved Sherin very much.

"She's very much anxious and depressed", Jose said of Sherin's mother. "They take care of her very much", said Jose Cherian, the church elder.

"If anyone have in possession baby Sherin, please bring back and report to police, to Richardson police. God will reward you", he added.

On Thursday, Oct. 12, Richardson police announced that they had received information that the Mathew's 2013 maroon Acura MDX SUV was absent from the family's home on Oct. 7 from 4 a.m.to 5 a.m.
