Northpark Mall closed for Thanksgiving, again

The mall will reopen at 6 a.m. the following day for Black Friday.

For the second year in a row, Coastal Grand Mall will be closing on Thanksgiving Day this year.

Some retailers, like TJ Maxx, Neiman Marcus, and Costco, have already started announcing whether they will be open or closed on Thanksgiving Day. Wal-Mart made a similar move in 2011, and Target in 2012. The Mall of America, the nation's largest shopping mall located in Bloomington, Minn., bucked the trend and closed on Thanksgiving in 2016.

CBL Properties, owner and manager of the mall, made the announcement today.

Amazon to Add 120k Workers for Holidays
The online superstore has just announced they are hiring 120,000 temporary workers across 33 states for the 2017 holiday season. But the company says many of its new hires will continue on with full-time jobs after the peak season is over.

"The support that we received a year ago when we made this decision was overwhelmingly positive", said Stephen Lebovitz, president and CEO of CBL Properties. "Access to mall common areas will be restricted".

CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. who manages the mall, said they received "overwhelmingly positive" support with last year's decision to close.

As Thanksgiving gets closer, a list of store closures will be released from Broadway at the Beach.

CBI Properties owns more than 70 malls nationwide.
