North Korea reportedly hack US-South Korean wartime 'decapitation strike' plans


The same day, the USA flew two B-1B Lancer bombers near the Korean Peninsula in a show of force.

Reuters reported that the United States military said in a separate statement it conducted drills with Japanese fighters after the exercise with South Korea, making it the first time U.S. bombers have conducted training with fighters from both Japan and South Korea at night.

Officials feared the rogue nation would test another missile or nuclear bomb on Monday or Tuesday as North Korean citizens celebrated the 11th anniversary of the country's first nuclear test and the foundation of the ruling Worker's Party of Korea.

North Korea did not conduct any launches or tests on Tuesday's anniversary.

The US bombers had taken off from the Andersen Air Force Base in Guam.

However it is unlikely North Korea would agree to allow the business owners' request to visit their facilities, given the heightened tensions over Pyongyang's nuclear and missile programs. China's influential Global Times tabloid expressed alarm at how far the rhetoric on both sides had gone and how it had increased the risk of a "fatal misjudgment".

The North's official media touted the party's byungjin policy - which pushes for simultaneous development of nuclear weapons and the economy - and added that military power was "the guarantee for victory".

A spokesman for the South's Joint Chiefs of Staff said its military was closely monitoring the movements of the North Korean army and maintaining full readiness. "So as owners with rights to the assets, it is necessary for us to check the situation and status of our assets and find out whether the complex is really being operated or not", said Kim Seo-jin, with the Kaesong Industrial Complex Association.
