A video of Chester Bennington taking part in Carpool Karaoke alongside his Linkin Park bandmates and U.S. comedian Ken Jeong recorded less than a week before his death has been released. For weeks afterward, it remained uncertain whether or not the episode would ever air, but with the blessing of Bennington's family, it's finally here.
The episode begins with Jeong joining Bennington and fellow band mates singer and songwriter Mike Shinoda and DJ Joe Hahn.
Carpool Karaoke executive producer and Late Late Show host James Corden told the Associated Press: "We will approach it in whichever manner his family or the people that were involved in that episode, however they would like it to be handled". "But when we talk about this and we're focusing on the show, it's really about, like we say, celebrating life".
After meeting Jeong, the group, with Bennington behind the wheel, sings along to songs like OutKast's "Hey Ya!", Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing", and the band's own songs "Numb" and "In the End".
We can not aid Puerto Rico 'forever'
Funds and in-kind contributions are being solicited from the business community, with a minimum donation of $10,000. Puerto Rico was affected by two hurricanes, Irma and Maria, that passed through the Caribbean.
Bennington, 41, recorded the video on 14 July - six days before he killed himself at his home in Palos Verdes, California.
At the time of his death, Jeong expressed his condolences on Twitter, saying he was in shock and was heartbroken.
According to a report by Entertainment Weekly, Linkin Park will be playing a special one-off concert on October 27 in Los Angeles at the Hollywood Bowl, which will feature special guests.
